  1. Dear Erin,

I am a 13 year old beginning/intermediate knitter, and I am confused about some of this pattern. First of all, in the back section of the vest, you say to 'knit until last 12 stitches', but after you say to 'P1, K9, P1, K2', which is 13 stitches. Should I just leave 13 stitches and knit and purl like the pattern says, or do I need to increase a stitch and where should I make the increase?

Also, what do you mean when you say 'work two more rows as the stitches face'?

Is it okay if I ask you more questions if I run into anything else that I don't understand?

    Thank you,

  2. Sophia,
I'm sorry! I would change that to p1, k9, p1, k2. :] And as for working as the stitches face, I mean if there is a purl stitch in the row before then purl that stitch, if there is a knit stitch then knit that stitch. Feel free to ask anything you need to know!

  3. Erin,
Thank you so much! However, you said p1, k9, p1, k2 again, which still is 13, so should I just leave 13 (not 12) stitches at the end of that row? I think the vest looks adorable and I can't wait to finish! Thanks so much for the pattern!

  4. Oh sorry I meant K1 not k2! So it should be p1, k9, p1, k1

  5. Thanks!! I can't wait to finish! The vest is for a friend-- I have this cool rainbow/bluey kind of yarn that I think will look great on it!

  6. Would you have any suggestions for knitting this in the round? (circular needles)

  7. Erin, I love this vest, but I found the pattern terribly confusing. And somehow the right front is like twice as big as the left front.. perhaps because of the lack of cable? I'm not sure. Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

  8. Hmmm, I am not sure! This is a very old pattern of mine that I am considering re-writing. However, I have never had a problem with the different sizes. Maybe check your gauge? I'm puzzled.

  9. Thanks, Erin. I think Im just gonna rip it out and start over.

Can you explain why the "bed" laid for the cable is 9 (ie: p1, K9, p1, k1... and p4, k1, P9, k1) but the instructions are to c6f and c6b???

    Did that make any sense?

  10. Erin--
Hi! I'm working on your vest and have a couple questions. On the front left side, you say to knit and purl to the seed stitch border and work, than continue like that. Do you mean knit, purl, than knit to the end of the row? On the next row, do you purl the whole way? I've been doing that pattern on both sides of the row, and it looks like a garter stitch not a stockinette stitch like I assume it should.
    Thanks,
    Laura

  11. I love the vest, but it's very confusing. On the right front (the one with buttonholes), you don't tell me to do an additional 2 inches without decreasing after the ribbing. do you want me to?
