A quick & easy how to for these gorgeous, sparkly infinity scarves.
What you need:
~Size 13 U.S. 29" circular needles
~Glittery, laceweight yarn (I used "Mohair Glitter"
1. CO anywhere from 100 to 150 stitches, join in the round. (Depending on what you like, you can leave some twists to create a mobius-like effect, or get all the twists out for a more traditional scarf.)
2. Work in Garter stitch (knit one round, purl one round) for an inch & a half to prevent curling.
3. Work in stockinette stich (knit every round) until your scarf is an inch and a half away from the width you want. (I do 6 to 8 inches)
3. Work Work in Garter stitch again for an inch & a half to prevent curling on this side.
4. BO loosely! I like to use the K2tog bind off (because it's fast!) or the Sewn Bind off (because it's stretchy & pretty).
That's all!

Wrap them in pretty tissue paper tied with a ribbon & they make great holiday gifts.

gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing! If you happen to know, about how much yarn did you use on average?
ReplyDeleteI think these are absolutely stunning!
I am so excited that you posted this pattern! I had been enjoying your photos of your scarves and wondered how to make them. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how much, but the yarn I used had about 500 yards in a skein and it wasn't even halfway gone when I finished one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern! I have some mohair yarn in my stash that will be perfect for it, but your Mohair Glitter versions are gorgeous and tempting.
ReplyDeleteI've got cowls on the brain as well! Yours is so wonderful, it looks like spiderweb!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern- i'll definitely be making one of these for Christmas :) but I think you got the pattern wrong- Garter stitch is knit every row and Stockinette is knit one row, purl the next.
ReplyDelete@Amanda, it's knit in the round so garter stitch is knit one round, purl one round & stockinette is knit every round. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE!
ReplyDeleteI think you couldn't have chosen loveliest colors! The scarfs are irresistible!
ReplyDeleteyay! thanks for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fairly new knitter and I bought a skein of this yarn. Is the model wearing it doubled? Also, to make a mobius is there any particular trick to where to twist? Or how many times?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern, it is great!!
Yes, in the picture I'm wearing it wrapped around twice. No trick for the mobius! It really looks pretty even if you don't have any twists. :)
ReplyDeleteI tried casting on 150 stitches on a 29" size US 13 circular needle, but it didn't take up the full length of the circular. Did you use the magic loop method or used two circulars in parallel? Or am I just using the wrong size yarn? I'm using Paton's Lace yarn, gauge 2 yarn. It's such a beautiful pattern and I'm itching to make loads of scarves!
ReplyDeleteI used just the regular circular needle! I'd suggest casting on more stitches, a bigger scarf can't hurt! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I tried casting on looser than I normally would and managed to get 150.
